Movies are still one of the biggest entertainment to Indian's and also around the world.Its known fact that movies started a long back as stage plays(Drama's)..later took this form of present 3D movies,animations etc....In India one of the Biggest award for life time contribution to Indian movie is "Dadasaheb Phalke award".Its given only for one person every year along with the National awards.The issue of this award started from the year 1969.There are greats from almost 10 states of India who received this award.The recent recipient was 'Dr.D.Rama Naidu' from Andhra Pradesh for the year 2009.Some others who received this award are Raj Kapoor,Ashok Kumar,Lata Mangeskar,Akkineni Nageshwara Rao,Dilip kumar,Sivaji Ganesan,Yash Chopra,Dev Anand,Manna Dey .......

His name is 'DundhiRaj Govind Phalke' popularly known as 'Dadasaheb Phalke'.He was born in Trimbakeshwar in Maharashtra.He was the pioneer of Indian Cinema. He was a Producer-screenwriter-director popularly known as 'Father of Indian Cinema'.He made 95 movies and 26 short films in his career of 19 years.'Raja Harischandra' was the first full-length feature Indian Cinema made by Dadasaheb Phalke in the year 1913.Dadasahed used to make silent movies and most of his movies were on our epics 'Ramayana' and 'Mahabharat'.But at the end of his prolific career Sound films entered India,which made him obselete.Some of his movies were Mohini Bhasmasur(1913),Satyavan Savitri(1914),Lanka Dahan(1917),Shri Krishna Janma(1918)......So these are some of first Indian cinema's of the 'Silent Era'.Government of India honored him by giving an award on his name every year to one of the Legends of Indian Cinema...
